After two years of development we are happy to announce the preview release of Alkimiya!

On December 6th, 2018 the first source code commit to Alkimiya was made. Thus began the journey of creating a powerful standard for dynamic vector curve musical instruments and software synthesis. Engineering on the Wave One hardware audio synthesizer interface also began during this time with the promise of creating a dedicated high performance synthesizer platform, usable either standalone or as a synthesizer engine and accelerator connected to a PC.

We invite you to experience Alkimiya, which is now available as a beta preview. This cross platform instrument designer and software synthesizer application is currently available as three editions: Demo Edition, Community Edition, and Power Edition. The Demo Edition is available for free to Windows and Mac OS X (soon!) but notably lacks file save support and has other limitations. The Community Edition is available for free to Linux users with file save support, as thanks to the free software community which made this application possible. The Power Edition is available for purchase and will offer additional features not available with the free editions, including: surround sound audio with custom speaker mapping, more than 4 CPU cores, more than 100 simultaneous notes, 64 bit floating point audio, unlimited audio sample rate, and more! Though not yet feature complete, the Power Edition provides a means for users to support development and continue to receive updates for the core feature set for all supported operating systems. Power Edition users will have access to the full 1.0 release, updates in the 1.0.x series, and an upgrade discount with future major releases which add additional new functionality.
